YAAAAAAY! Food Running Here I Come :D

I just passed both my spiels to my two different managers! Next step, food running!!! So unbelievably excited to be done with all the studying and pre-tests you need to do to get into food running. However, STILL there is no guarantee to service. So now, I need to wait for a food running date. Once I get my food running date I will have a culinary day scheduled and stay in the kitchen as a runner for a few weeks. Once that's done, I'll have to be trained as a server, then do my assessment and serve my managers and trainer.... and THEN, and only then.. if I pass.. I will become a server. A lot of loop holes you need to jump through hey?

I think it is pretty intense to become a server here at Disney, and especially at Le Cellier, however, I think it makes total sense. It is Disney World and on top of that we are a signature restaurant so of course they expect the best from us... but really... it is still kind of crazy. Just kind of.

For spieling, I had to take the lunch menu and pretend my managers were my guests. I introduced Le Cellier and myself as their authentic Canadian server. I talked about Winnipeg, MB where I am from and then gave them a nice tour of our excellent Canadian menu. I had to spiel 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 1 side, 1 non alcoholic beverage, 1 speciality alcoholic beverage, the unibroues, the moosehead pale ale, sparkling wine, white wine, and red wine. Going through this took me like... 10 minutes (or it sure felt like it). After that was done the managers ask you questions about the menu and such, and then tell you whether you passed or failed. You have to do this two different times, to two different managers.

Once I got the pass from my second manager, I was so ecstatic! I am so happy right now and can't wait to start food running and keep myself a little busier then I am on podium. I always get so anxious at work because I like to keep moving and can't just stand around, so I am really looking forward to be doing something different again.

All I have to do now is wait for my food running date, which will be in weeks from now, but really... I do not care if it's a bit of a wait, I am just happy I finally got to where I am now!

Woooohoooo :)

Enjoy and have a magical day!

3 Months, 3 Months, 3 Months!!!

Can you believe it?! Because I sure can not! I have been down here for three months as of 4 days ago! CRAZY. :)

When I look back on everything I have done in only the three short months I have been here, it makes me so thankful for this experience and makes me so much more excited for what today, tomorrow, and the rest of the program brings!

I have done a lot over the three months that I most likely wouldn't have done if I didn't take this opportunity of moving to Orlando and working for the mouse!

My highlights are:

-Meeting friends and building relationships with people from all over the world! It is so incredible.
-Making some best friends down here that I know I will be friends with after this program and through many years!
-Going to all the Disney parks and Typhoon Lagoon's waterpark. Now I only have to make it to Blizzard Beach's waterpark!
-Living with the nicest roommates from Norway, Germany and Canada. I love them to pieces!
-Work itself. Everyday is different and I am working in the most magical place on earth, so the atmosphere and environment is always so positive making it fun and exciting.
-Becoming a trainer!!!
-Writing my menu assessment!
-My family coming to visit. It was soooo nice to see them. I love them and miss them!
-Going to Clearwater.
-Miami!! So beautiful!
-Swimming with sharks! Yes I did it... so, so scary.
-Watching Cirque Du Soleil - La Nouba!!
-Going to international parties and pool parties and meeting amazing people!
-Event nights!!! - Every night there is something going on. Everday of the week there is a "usual" hangout for the Canadians- and other countries as well. For example on Monday all the countries meet up with one another and either stay in the complexes or rent out a lounge/bar. Another example is on Wednesdays/Thursdays we have welcome parties for the new cast members joining our pavilion!

Honestly, I have to stop my list now. There are just too many things! What I like most about this place is that everyday is always different! With work and with social life here. You never know what today or tomorrow brings. Everyone is so spontaneous here and everyone down always wants to do something fun! One day we may go to beach; to the parks; have a night out with the Canadians; spend time with my international friends;  meet new people at the international parties; go to a pool party; or just stay in and have a movie night. There are countless things to do here and simply, I just love it!

Enjoy and have a magical day!
